My Skin Care Must Haves

As fun and wonderful as clothes may be, the first thing people see when you meet them is your face so it is very important to take care of your skin.

I have very oily, acne prone skin. I've dealt with acne for as long as I can remember. My teenage self thought that it would just magically disappear when I became an adult and my college self was too lazy to take proper care of my skin. It wasn't until about two years ago that I really cracked down and started taking proper care of my skin. So today I wanted to share with you some of the things that really helped give me the best skin I've ever had.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - I love this product to remove my make up at the end of the day. It is very important to remove your make up before washing your face to ensure that you really get your skin clean.

Purity One Step Facial Cleanser - This is the best face wash that I have ever used!! It is so gentle, doesn't dry my skin out and really gets rid of all makeup and residue. I can even use this to remove my make up when I don't use the micellar water. I will just wash my face once to take off my make up and again to clean my skin.

Clinique Cleansing Brush - This was the big game changer for me. Once I started cleaning my face with this brush my skin felt and looked the best it ever has! I only use it in the evenings since that is when my skin needs the deepest clean. There is a trick to this though.. When you first start using a cleaning brush your face will break out because it is deep cleaning and bringing all of the excess dirt to the surface. That will just last for a week or two then you will have clearer, softer skin!

Clinique Clarifying Toner - Clinique has always been one of my favorite brands when it comes to skin care. There is something for everyone no matter what your problem area is. A toner is meant to treat the skin after washing. I use #3 for oily/combination type skin.

Neutrogena Hyrdo Boost Moisturizer - Having oily skin can make finding a moisturizer kind of difficult. Lotions never seem to help control the oil even if they are "oil free". This moisturizer is a gel. It's lightweight, hydrating and doesn't make me feel or look oily through out the day.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizer with SPF - This is the moisturizer that I apply most mornings, especially if I'm going to spend any amount of time outside. Sun damage happens so easily and will lead to premature aging so it is very important to wear a daily SPF.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion - I use this every night to spot treat any acne spots. It's not going to make a pimple disappear over night (I don't think there is any product that will do that) but it will speed up the process!!

Helpful tips:
1. Find a routine that works for you and stick with it! It takes some time for a product to really work with your skin. Don't give up on a product because you don't see immediate results.
2. Wash your face everyday, twice a day! It is just as important to wash your face in the mornings as well as in the evenings.

Everyone has different skin types and different problem areas. These are the products that I continue to use and that have really made a difference in my skin.
